Shaq New Book Tells All -Nov. 15th

Retired NBA legend and future Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal is following in his ex-coach Phil Jackson’s lead this week. In other words, he’s causing a stir with the things he’s saying — more specifically in his upcoming autobiography Shaq Uncut: My Story.

The book is written with the help of acclaimed sportswriter Jackie MacMullan as Shaq pulls no punches regarding his run-ins with former Heat coach Pat Riley and long-time rival Kobe Bryant. Here are some excerpts released, courtesy of Deadspin.com.
On Pat Riley and getting traded from Miami: I tell Pat we’re a team and we need to stick together, not throw guys out of the gym. Pat is screaming at me and says if I don’t like it, then I should get the hell out of practice, too. That’s when I said, “Why don’t you make me?”

On Kobe Bryant: My first Lakers season we had a couple of rookies, and we hazed them pretty badly. We were dogging them out constantly. It was “Go get my bags, go get me something to eat.” It was kind of a rite of passage in the NBA that a lot of teams do, but we probably went a little too far with it. One of the rookies—Derek Fisher—just took it. The other rookie—Kobe Bryant—ratted us out to Jerry West.

Shaq also goes in-depth on Bryant’s sexual assault trial and how it tore the 2004 Lakers apart. And yes, he discusses the infamous Kobe-Shaq beef. As candid as Shaq is, does he go too far on certain subjects? We’ll ultimately see.   Cred’s/SodaHead
