Southern California rapper, Jayo Felony, made headlines last week when a Los Angeles news channel confronted him for allegedly squatting in a Hollywood Hills home.
The rapper — best known for his late 1990s hit single, “Watcha Gonna Do?” — is living a $1.6 million home in the Hollywood Hills. However, the bank owns it, according to Fox News L.A.who investigated the matter.
Jayo was confronted by FOX News cameras last week at the home, and was very angry when asked if he was squatting.
“My homeboy daddy own this house,” he insisted, when the reporter told him he’s squatting. “You think I’m finna be squatting in some motherf***in’ house? Is you stupid?”
While he may be considered a squatter by the bank who owns the title after the home foreclosed, Jayo seems to be unaware. He’s just the victim of a scammer.
According to the report, Jayo and his girlfriend paid $5,000 to rent the home from a man named Benjamin White. The problem is, White doesn’t own the home.
“We rented it fJayo Felony BANGS! on FOX News! “What’ CUZ!”(footage)rom someone. We literally paid someone $5,000 cash to rent this place,” the rapper’s girlfriend told FOX News.
White is being sued by the bank for forcibly entering the property.
“They look on the foreclosure list, with the internet that’s very simple to do. They find out which homes are being foreclosed on, and usually right before the sale they will move in,” Deputy City Attorney Maureen Rodriguez said, and it’s becoming a big problem.
Jayo Felony Squatting In Hollywood Hills Home? Or Victim Of A Scam?
Rodriguez says after they move in, it’s hard to get them out.
